RARE BAROLO &  BARBARESCO WINES TO BE UNCORKED AT SYDNEY’S FAVOURITE ITALIAN 

Woollahra’s much-loved Italian restaurant, I Maccheroni, has announced it will uncork 10 of the rarest Barolo and Barbaresco wines to accompany a degustation of 10 of its most mouth-watering dishes.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity gives customers the ultimate ‘treat yourself’ experience, in a timely celebration of easing Covid-19 restrictions.

Barolo and Barbaresco wines are some of the world’s greatest and most distinctive, and are produced in the northern Italian region of Piemonte. Known as the ‘king of wines’, Barolo and Barbaresco wines are rich and full-bodied, with a strong presence of acidity, rose flower and dried herbs. The team at Enoteca, a leading wine importer and distributor, has carefully selected bottles from renowned Piemonte producers, including Elio Grasso, Elvio Cogno and Mauro Molino, and will be guiding guests through the tasting notes of each wine.

Owner and head chef of I Maccheroni, Marcello Farioli, has designed a menu to perfectly complement these strong flavours, with veal tongue terrine, rabbit brandade, agnolotti del plin and brasato al barolo (beef braised in red wine) just some of the dishes being served.

“If you love wine and you love food, this really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We have some of the best wines in the world that will be paired with some of my favourite Italian dishes. It really doesn’t get much better than this. With Covid-19 restrictions easing, we thought it was the perfect time to do something special for our customers,” said Farioli.
